Anxiety Therapy and Management

Anxiety disorders are one of the most common mental health problems among adults.  The stress of modern-day life can feel overwhelming.  While some amount of stress is a common reaction to many situations, such as jobs and relationships, anxiety can become a problem when the stress and worry interferes with your ability to cope with day-to-day life.

Psychologically, anxiety is a subjective state of apprehension and uneasiness.  It can cause you to feel detached from yourself, fearful of dying, or even like you are “going crazy.”  Often time, people feel anxiety related to a specific situation, performance (test anxiety), health, work or finances.  Some of the physical symptoms of anxiety may be shortness of breath, heart palpitations, nausea, abdominal distress, or dizziness.

Anxiety can be a miserable feeling but help is available.  Cognitive therapy, relaxation training, mindfulness practice and life-style evaluations have all been shown to be very effective in the treatment of anxiety.  I have years of experience helping people recovery from anxiety by learning a variety of coping skills and strategies.  If you feel like you are struggling with anxiety, please contact me to make an appointment at our East Lansing office.

I look forward to hearing from you.
